Orderflow for Etsy sellers on Shopify

Manage Etsy and Shopify production work from one workflow.

Orderflow does not import Etsy orders. A marketplace connector brings compatible Etsy sales into Shopify. Then Orderflow can run the same post-checkout workflow you use for website orders: statuses, photos, proofs, and Ship by dates.

Etsy sells it. Shopify holds the order. Orderflow runs the work.

The problem after checkout

Two channels, two places to lose a photo.

If you sell custom work on Etsy and also have a Shopify store, the making is often the same. The lists are not. A photo in Etsy Messages and a proof in Shopify email is how personalized orders get lost.

  • The same people make website and Etsy orders
  • Personalization still happens after payment
  • You already ship from Shopify
  • You do not want a second production system for the marketplace channel

Centralizing is useful when Etsy orders actually become Shopify orders. It is less useful if Etsy is your only channel and you are happy in Etsy’s own tools.

What actually has to happen first

Be precise about the chain. Orderflow starts after a compatible Shopify order exists.

  1. 1

    Sale on Etsy

The customer paid on Etsy. Orderflow cannot see that sale by itself.

  2. 2

    Marketplace connector

A connector copies a compatible order into Shopify. That job belongs to the connector, not to Orderflow.

  3. 3

    Shopify order exists

It has a name, a customer, and a fulfillment state like any other Shopify order.

  4. 4

    Orderflow workflow

Statuses, missing photos, proofs, Customer Message, Internal Note, and Ship by — the same tools as website orders.

  5. 5

    Fulfill in Shopify

You ship from Shopify. Whether tracking posts back to Etsy depends on the connector, not on Orderflow.

Where Orderflow fits — and where it does not

Say this out loud before you install anything: Orderflow is not an Etsy app. It is a Shopify production workflow that can include imported Etsy orders.

One queue after the connector

If the connector created the Shopify order, it can sit next to website orders with the statuses you already use.

Photos and proofs on that order

Collect Info, Request Information, and Proof Review work on the Shopify order. They do not read Etsy Messages.

Shopify tags from your statuses

When you change status in Orderflow, Orderflow can write a Shopify tag such as status-Ready to Ship so native Shopify filters still work.

Ship by across channels

A promised date is a promised date, whether the sale started on Etsy or on your site.

What Orderflow will not do

It will not import the Etsy sale, replace the connector, print labels, or guarantee tracking posts back to Etsy.

After a connector + Orderflow

  1. Step 1. Compatible Etsy sales are Shopify orders first
  2. Step 2. Orderflow runs production on those orders
  3. Step 3. Photos and proofs stay on the Shopify order
  4. Step 4. One queue for the people who make the work
  5. Step 5. The connector still owns Etsy sync — not Orderflow

Already fulfilling Etsy from Shopify?

Put the production work in one place.

If a connector already creates Shopify orders from Etsy, Orderflow can be the workflow after that. It will not replace the connector.

Questions shops actually ask

Does Orderflow have a native Etsy integration?

No. Orderflow does not import Etsy orders and does not read Etsy Messages. A marketplace connector has to create a Shopify order first.

Can I use Shopify Marketplace Connect for Etsy?

New Etsy connections are not currently supported through Shopify Marketplace Connect. Existing connections through that app may continue. If you are connecting Etsy for the first time, use a compatible marketplace connector instead.

Will Orderflow send tracking back to Etsy?

No. Fulfillment and tracking-to-Etsy behavior belong to Shopify and to your connector. Orderflow organizes the production work on the Shopify order.
